ZACK WELLS
Zack Wells known on stage as Happy Zack has been making noise in one form or another for most of his life. His musical roots trace back to choir in school. That love of performance never left him, but it took a college roommate named Josh Greer a guitarist who had a habit of stealing the room at every party to light the fuse on his instrumental journey.
By 28, he'd found his people in Fleeting Time, a band with four guitarists and no drummer. Zack volunteered. He'd always wanted to play drums, never had the space growing up, and wasn't about to let the opportunity pass. He hasn't looked back since.
Today, Zack plays drums, guitar, and shares vocal duties and if the moment calls for it, he'll reach for the maracas, triangle, or cowbell with full Will Ferrell energy. His musical palette is wide: punk, alternative rock, country, rock, and what he generously describes as "jazz, but only the chords that sound terrible together."
Inspired by artists ranging from Staind and Tool to Darius Rucker, Ed Sheeran, A Day to Remember, Snow Patrol, and 2 Chainz, his tastes are as hard to categorize as his setlist. At his core, though, he lives for breakdown-driven metal and rock.
Zack has written around ten original songs and is constantly chasing new grooves, even when the lyrics take their time catching up. He currently plays with Fleeting Time and Halfway Hollow, performing at venues including the American Legion, Elks Lodge, Hotboyz Famous Chicken, Urban Apples Cidery, and more than a few memorable house parties.
His goals are refreshingly human: play a gig once a month, and find that moment when a stranger in the crowd knows the words to one of their originals.
Off stage, Zack has a curiosity about the world that keeps him reading, podcasting, and asking questions most people avoid. He's a secular humanist and proud skeptic and somehow, all of that ends up in the music.
