David Martin, better known as the monocled Def Marivich, is a Midwest native who has been producing music for nearly 20 years. An experienced piano player, he produces sounds ranging from hip hop, to lounge and house. David credits his inspiration to produce to Derk Gates, a quadripeligic DJ and business owner who David worked for as a teenager. Under this mentorship, David learned the ins and outs of DJing which led to delving into the production side of music. Music production has become one of David’s incessant master hobbies, with tens of thousands of hours dedicated to his craft, always refusing to settle for less than his best on each project. David aims to hit “the pocket,” his term for the point at which the elements of the sounds start to make a unique groove. He cites his consistent fan base and dedicated supporters as his inspirations, who as a whole have encouraged and helped him throughout all that he has overcome. David works as a smart home technician and enjoys reading, beading, and gaming in his spare time. He aspires to see his musical creations get placement on tv, film, or a documentary.
